Femili PNG is a local NGO based in Lae that runs a Case Management Centre to assist survivors of family and sexual violence to access the services they need. We support women, men or children who are survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual violence and/or child abuse.
Femili PNG was very pleased to hear that it was one of the charity organizations selected for the ‘Christmas wishing tree’ initiative that was launched in November last year by the Brian Bell Group and the Sir Brian Bell Foundation.
The Sir Brian Bell Foundation created a unique opportunity for people to be able to support numerous charities across Papua New Guinea during November and December 2017. Brian Bell Homecentres, Trade Electricals and Chemicals provided the opportunity for everyone to purchase a K5 bauble and place this on the “Christmas Wishing Tree” with a special Christmas message. 100% of all funds raised from the K5 Christmas baubles have been given to the respective charities, including Femili PNG, selected by the Sir Brian Bell Foundation.
In Lae, Brian Bell Group’s four divisions, Brian Bell Homecentres, Trade Electrical, Chemicals and Agriculture/ Kubota had Christmas trees in their respective stores where customers could purchase baubles and place their own messages on the back and hang it on the Christmas trees.
Brian Bell Homecentre Lae Branch Manager Mr. Tony Incoll said, ‘’We were extremely happy with the commitment our customers had during the promotion which raised in excess of K4,500. In addition to this, the Sir Brian Bell Foundation donated an additional K20,000 to each of the charities.’’
Mr Incoll said, “with the help of the Sir Brian Bell Foundation, we are making a worthy donation. We hope that Femili PNG can put it to good use in helping the people of Lae in situations beyond their control”.
As a non-government organization, Femili PNG currently receives its core funding from the Australian Aid program through Pacific Women. Partners and supporters that contribute in assisting Femili PNG also include Friends of Femili PNG, OXFAM, Oil Search Foundation, Trukai Industries, Newcrest Mining Limited, Mundango Abroad, Harold Mitchell Foundation, Zenag Chicken, Zonta Club, Steamships, Guard Dog Security, Cardno, BCFW, BSP, Colgate-Palmolive, Pilgrim SDA Church and individual donors. And now Brian Bell has come on board to support Femili PNG to continue its work to assist survivors.
Therefore, Femili PNG highly appreciates and thanks the Brian Bell Group and the Sir Brian Bell Foundation for donating over K24,500 to support the work of the organization.
On behalf of the Board, Management and staff of Femili PNG, Operations Manager Ms. Denga Ilave expressed her utmost thanks for the donation as she received the celebration cheque of K24, 515 from Mr. Incoll (Wednesday 31 January 2018) at the Brian Bell Homecentre Lae. She said, ‘’This donation will really help us to continue our services to the survivors and also help us to support our partners who assist survivors of family and sexual violence.’’

It was all about giving, sharing and family. I was amazed by the generousity of so many people over the Christmas period, it was simply great to see so many people getting behind this great initiative. We will continue to build upon this great start, and we will 100% be continuing our Christmas Wish Tree program into 2018”.
